Having the Right Mind Frame
Whether you are competing at an elite level in your sport, or just want to put your best foot forward in a competition, athlete psyche is key. Psyche and right frame of mind is essential as being hydrated or having the right equipment. It is one of the things that is often overlooked. Brian Mackenzie, of CrossFit Endurance came up with a training tool to keep you in the right frame of mind.
The 4 C’s
Set goals for each competition and training. Find cues that will bring your mind back to your goals that you set like “Relaxed ankle, squeeze your butt!!”
In order for confidence to be beneficial, you need to have a positive attitude. It is a state of mind and a belief that you can meet the challenge ahead, whatever it may be.
Not just control of your body during movement, but mental control also. An athlete’s ability to maintain control of their emotions in the face of adversity and remain positive is essential to successful performance.
This might be the toughest for most of us. Be it different aspects of life such as: family, friends, work, social life. All will pull you from your commitment to your sport. Try and find a balance between these aspects in order to keep you on your path to success.
People experience different emotional states when they compete. Some cool, calm, and collective. Others might be so nervous they cannot sit still. Be confident in your skills and preparedness. You have trained for this, you are ready for this.
